Music Law Clinic: FEB 23 + 24th


“Protect Athens Music” is a joint endeavor between the University of Georgia Music Business Program, University of Georgia School of Law’s Sports and Entertainment Law Society, and Nuci’s Space to support and educate local musicians.

On February 23, 2012, “Protect Athens Music” will host two panels at the Melting Point, highlighting pressing areas of law and music business and featuring LEGAL AND MUSIC BUSINESS EXPERTS.
The following day, local entertainment attorneys will offer legal advice in a FREE music law clinic at Nuci’s Space, focusing on the legal issues that individual local musicians face. The clinic will provide the opportunity for musicians to have ONE-ON-ONE CONSULTATIONS with experienced entertainment attorneys.

The conference/panels are open to anyone- feel free to walk in and out.

WHAT: Panel discussions led by music industry professionals on topics including how to book shows, what terms to look for in contractual transactions, who owns the copyright to your music, how to exploit those copyrights in alternative revenue streams, etc. Also, a free legal clinic the next day for those who sign up for a 30 minute appoinment.

Music Therapy Benefit!

The Aria Fund: Healing Hearts, Minds, and Bodies One Voice at a Time
When: Saturday, February 25, 2012, 2-6pm
Where: Nuçi's Space
Who and What: Music Therapy is a research-based healthcare profession that uses music to address emotional cognitive, physical, and social needs for all ages. Music interventions can include singing, instrument playing, dancing and movement, song writing, creating musical stories, analyzing lyrics, facilitating individual lessons, and musical games. Services are needed throughout Athens for support groups, special needs, groups, hospitals, mental health programs, etc. All proceeds going to the Aria Fund will be redistributed to community agencies to pay for music therapy services and music performances.
