"We are looking for musicians who are interested in playing at the 15th Annual Dr. Bob Rhoades Seed Swap, which we are hosting at our family farm in Crawford, GA on Saturday, April 21st.
Any kind of style with any folk, blues, old-time, gospel, country, bluegrass influence is welcome but we love all kinds of music are very open! We would be honored for your band to come and help us celebrate springtime, gardening, and local and old-time agriculture. You can read the details below in our press release, but some highlights of the event include horse drawn wagon rides, horse powered plowing demonstrations by the Old Time Plow Club, learning seed saving techniques taught by local master gardeners, and swapping heirloom seeds and plants with folks from all around.
But let's face it, folks really come to hear good music, right?
This event was started by my father fifteen years ago to preserve/educate folks about traditional agriculture, and it always has a great turnout of anywhere from 150-300 people. We don't charge any admission for the event, so we are always on a shoestring and can't offer payment, but we will make sure you get free food from our food vendors, and your band is welcome to bring a table and sell CD's and merchandise.
The event will be from 10AM until 4PM, and you can contact me to schedule your band in a convenient time slot. You will be playing on the porch of a rustic 19th century pine long cabin that was reconstructed on the property, so it would be a great place to get some band pictures as well. We will have a sound system set up with 5 or more microphones, so you won't have to bring a lot of equipment."
